Choir

The Midstate Choir, led by Robbie Briggs, Minister of Music at First Baptist Church Pineville, offers home school students an opportunity to develop their vocal and musical skills. Robbie has extensive experience leading choirs, playing multiple instruments, and working with music ministries across Louisiana. The choir will perform a concert each semester and participate in various community events, including performances at LCU, Calvary Baptist, and Main Street Baptist Mission. High school students will also have the opportunity to compete in the ACEL Fine Arts Festival.

SCience

Chemistry 10-12 grade

Physical Science 8-12 grade

M.S. Human Anatomy 6-8 grade

The Midstate science courses provide students with a hands-on learning experience. Teachers are excited to guide students in exploring God’s creation through science. Consistent attendance is crucial due to the fast-paced schedule, and students are expected to stay on pace with readings and lab work if they miss a class. The courses include independent study, lab experiments, and semester finals. Future Midstate science courses will rotate between varying middle school courses, general science, physical science, biology, chemistry, and physics, tentatively on this schedule:

To assist with your long-term planning, we wanted to give a tentative outline for our science courses for the future. Our goal is to offer 8-12 grade science courses on a rotating basis each year. For the 2025-2026 we will offer Chemistry & Human Anatomy. In subsequent years, it will hopefully look like this:

  • “odd year fall”: physical science and chemistry (typically 9th and 11th grades)
  • “even year fall”: general science, biology, physics (typically 8th, 10th, 12th grades)

Those of us teaching science courses are primarily invested because of our own children needing these courses in coming years. So unless something drastic changes, you can plan on science classes being available for your students as well. We have a passion for learning more about our Creator God through study of His creation, and sharing that excitement with many groups of students to come.
